We welcome Jana Tomaszek, our first master student!
Jana completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the Department of Biotechnology (FAU). There, she investigated inhibitory peptides involved in the hook-into-groove interaction of herpesviral proteins from the human cytomegalovirus.
Jana connection to the BIDlab is not new. She was part of the 2025 8-student summer internship cohort, where she and her colleagues worked on bacterial and plant extracellular vesicles (EVs). After that, Jana joined us for a 8-week research internship in the summer of 2026 working on our EVs biogenesis project . Now, she joins for her master thesis on the topic of pneumococcal EVs and antimicrobial resistance.
Jana is additionally a Student Trainee at Dr. Pfleger Arzneimittel GmbH in the Quality Unit.
Outside the lab she enjoys doing judo, running and loves spending time outdoors with her dogs, friends and family.
Good luck in the lab and have fun!
